Impact of Carbonatation Remelt Milling System on Performance of Semboro Sugar Factory Jember Regency

Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) is a plantation plant of the family Graminae wich has an important role in driving the economy of a region. . Sugarcane is a commodity which can produce important products in Indonesia, namely sugar. Government of the United Indonesia Cabinet II has established the National Sugar Industry Revitalization Program which one of the plans is the PG machine / equipment replacement / modification from the sulfitation process to the carbonatation remelt defecation (or DRK). In BUMN business environment, PG which has applied DRK technology is just one, namely PG Semboro-PTPN XI in order to enhance the PG Semboro performance and to improve the quality of the sugar to be supplied to the industrial sugar market and with hopes that sugar produced could be semi-equivalent with rafination sugar. This study aimed to determine: (1) technical efficiency before and after the implementation of carbonatation remelt system in PG. Semboro, (2) the quality of sugar before and after the implementation of carbonatation remelt system in PG. Semboro, (3) the development of the selling price of sugar before and after the implementation of carbonatation remelt system in PG. Semboro and (4) development strategy of carbonatation remelt milling system in PG. Semboro. Research done at PG. Semboro In Semboro District, Jember Regency. Research method is descryptive, analytical and comparative methods. Sampling method uses non-probability sampling. Sample determination in this study uses judgement sampling. Data analysis used in this study are (1) different test for two paired samples, (2) descriptive analysis, (3) ratio analysis, and (4) analysis of FFA or Field Force Analysis. The analysis results showed that: (1) PG Semboro is technically inefficient when implemented carbonatation remelt system with socre of t-hit of the Mill Extraction (ME) < t-table (0.817 <2.353), t-hit of the Boiling House Recovery (BHR) <ttable (2.060 <2.353), and t-hit of the Overall Recovery (OR) < t-table (1.403 < 2.353), (2) Quality of PG Semboro increases after implemented carbonatation remelt system, (3) the selling price of sugar is financially inefficient after the implementation of carbonatation remelt system which is marked by ratio of sugar selling price with sulfitation milling system is higher than ratio of sugar selling price with carbonatation remelt system. The strongest push factor is arranged operational management, while the strongest obstruct factor is market competition
